The Importance of Regulating Your Metabolism Rate In Order to Lose Weight

Are you the individual who lately has become tired of being overweight and basically unhealthy? If so understand that with effort on your part weight loss is a goal which can be achieved. Please understand one crucial concept however when it comes to burning bad fat which will lead to your shedding those extra pounds now on your frame. Being able to regulate your metabolism rate is an important step in your ability to actually burn bad fat and subsequently lose weight.

Many people looking to lose weight are of the mistaken belief that by simply eating less calories within their daily food consumption that automatically it will solve the problem. Scientifically this has proven to be incorrect. Daily when you eat less food, (lowering the amount of calories that you consume) your body will begin to adjust accordingly. Thinking that it is not getting enough food, your body's metabolism rate will slow down. There is not enough fuel in the body's digestive system to burn off bad fat so subsequently you will end up with little or no weight loss.

The gland that regulates your body's metabolism rate is the thyroid gland located in your neck. This gland controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes protein and controls how sensitive the body is to other hormones. Furthermore the gland itself produce two important hormones: triiodothyronine, (known as "T3" scientifically) and thyroxine both of which regulate the metabolism rate and the growth rate of other systems within the body. In simple English an individual's thyroid gland, benefiting from the consumption of the right type of food sources that will stimulate the production of the "T3" hormone, will also have the body's metabolism rate naturally regulated. This regulation of the metabolism rate is the important "ingredient" for the individual to burn bad fat and fuel the body properly in being able to successfully lose weight.

For the most part, the problem is that people consume entirely too much over-processed foods within their diets. Individuals with hectic life-styles eat too many frozen food meals weekly as they are much easier and quicker to prepare at home. Unfortunately frozen foods have too many additives and ingredients, (sodium being the chief culprit) designed to prevent the food from quickly spoiling.

To put it bluntly these type of foods hinder the thyroid gland from functioning properly, besides the fact that they damage the body in general over the long haul. Sodium preservatives in foods when consumed at high rates can lead to high blood pressure which can eventually lead to serious strokes and possible premature death.

Cooking or baking foods using oils high in trans and saturated fats needless to say is also not good for the human body in the long run. Yet, too many people consume these ingredients as a part of the wrong food sources that are too much a part of their diets. They can't understand why they've put on weight over a period of time, either. So, how can one consume food that will stimulate his/her thyroid gland which in turn will regulate the body's metabolism rate leading to weight reduction?

Start by consuming foods laden with rich nutrients and minerals. The "T3" hormone triiodothyronine, mentioned above, is produced to even greater extent if you feed your body a diet rich in the following minerals: Selenium, Zinc and Iodine. Looking at each mineral individually they are found naturally in these food sources:
Selenium can be found in nuts, seeds, bran and many types of seafood.

Zinc can be found in crab, chicken, turkey, nuts and beans.
Iodine can be found in shellfish, beans, sesame seeds, spinach, soybeans and squash.
Taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement daily also will contain the proper amounts of selenium, zinc, and iodine if you feel that you are not getting enough of them from the food sources that contain them as natural ingredients. From whichever source you can consume these three important minerals into your system, their importance cannot be overstated as to your body's ability to produce that important "T3" hormone and have your thyroid gland functioning to its capabilities.

Regulating your metabolism rate, not solely consuming less calories in your diet will enable you to burn bad fat and eventually lose weight. Having your thyroid gland functioning as it is intended would allow your body's metabolism rate to be regulated and stable.
